It has been my experience that many people have difficulty being vulnerable in relationships for various reasons. We often try to control or avoid circumstances when we feel uncomfortable, insecure or vulnerable. In doing research in how to use Mindfulness to overcome this fear and use it as a pathway to peace, I came across this beautiful video by Tara Brach who hits the nail on the head and gives very practical advice on how to embrace our fears to move through them..
